Civilian Specialist: The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is currently taking applications for Civilian Specialist positions. This is a non-sworn, civilian position created exclusively for the Detention Center. $14.31 to $17.50 per hour, plus benefits. Applicants must be at least 19 years of age. Shift work is required. All other minimum qualifications are the same as for the Deputy Sheriff position. *No written test or physical ability test is required for the Civilian Specialist position. Open until filled.
Deputy Sheriff: Starting salary for Deputy Sheriff: $37,668.80 Annually annually, plus benefits or $40,456.00 Annually for those Already Certified, plus benefits. Forensic Scientist: The Criminalistics Division of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified applicant for a position in our Latent Print Section. The major duties of the position include applying the appropriate processing techniques on evidence submissions, analysis of latent print evidence; comparison and evaluation of latent finger, palm, and foot prints for identification; and entering latent prints into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). This position will be filled at the Forensic Scientist I, II or III level, depending on the training and experience of the selected candidate. Job Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, forensic science, or other closely related natural science fields with laboratory science coursework. Two years of experience in latent print analysis is preferred. The applicant will be required to successfully complete a laboratory training program in latent prints and a competency/proficiency test before beginning independent casework responsibilities.
