Jail Deputy

Perform routine security work in maintaining order and discipline among inmates held in the Shelby County Correctional Facility.Enforce security rules and regulations; participate in booking, fingerprinting, photographing, and processing of new inmates; escort inmates from cell block to visiting room and recreational or open areas; keep close check on inmates' physical conditions; report illness or injury to superiors; operate electronic monitoring equipment, maintain records, operate NCIC or two-way communications. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions; be able to read and comprehend written material; possess logical reasoning, memory, and observation.Age: Minimum 18 years of age or older. Citizenship: U.S.A. Education: High School Diploma or GED Other: Applicants must pass initial examination, background investigation, physical agility/obstacle course portion of APOSTC fitness test, interviews, personality inventory (psychological) test, polygraph, medical exam, and drug screen prior to appointment.Testing will be conducted on a Friday of each month.
