From GovernmentJobs.com · read Oct 1, 2026 · originalUnder supervision, the Correctional Deputy is a dual-role, entry-level position responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and orderly operation of the County jail while also performing emergency dispatch functions. Incumbents supervise inmates during booking, housing, meals, and movement within the facility; assist with booking, classification, and release processes; and maintain accurate records and logs.
In addition to custody duties, Correctional Deputies receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch law enforcement and public safety personnel, and operate communications systems such as CLETS and NCIC. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment, exercising sound judgment and professionalism in both custody and dispatch settings. As knowledge and experience are gained, incumbents may advance to the Correctional Deputy II level.

Holiday Pay: 7% additional compensation
