Reels ACADEMY PATROL MAJOR CRIMES K-9 TACTICAL TEAM AND MUCH MORE QUALIFICATIONS In order to be considered for Trooper Trainee, applicants must; ​ Be a minimum of 21 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.​ ​ ​ Must be a US Citizen, have Permanent Legal Residency, or be a recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to enter the academy. ​ Be in general good health, drug-free and have sufficient strength, stamina and agility as required by duties of the position. ​ ​ Possess a high school diploma or GED by the completion of training. ​ ​ Be free from Felony and Class A or B misdemeanor convictions. ​ ​ Have a good educational and work record and excellent moral character. ​ ​ Have normal hearing, normal color vision and depth perception, and binocular vision. Distance and near vision (with lenses) must be 20/30 in each eye. ​ ​ Obtain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License and establish residency in Connecticut before graduating from the Academy. ​ ​ Be in compliance with the Department's tattoo and body modification policies. ​ ​ Read the policy by clicking the "Tattoo Policy" tab.
