Qualifications, pay, and benefits To qualify to become a MTPD officer, you must pass a rigorous background check, meet physical agility requirements, and demonstrate psychological readiness. If you have prior law enforcement experience, you may be able to enter MTPD service with a higher starting salary. Pay We offer a starting salary of $74,505 for entry-level police officer positions. The maximum starting salary is currently $91,906. Applicants with military, corrections and higher education may also qualify for higher entry level salaries not to exceed $91,906.
