Overtime
Wages may be enhanced through supervisor approved overtime. Overtime opportunities include:
Working grant funded traffic enforcements before or after your scheduled shift.
Weather related emergencies. winter storms, tornados, etc.
Enforcement activity which extends beyond scheduled time, such as traffic stops involving DUI or crash investigations.
Additional pay enhancement opportunities:
Yearly boot allowance
Shift differentials
Weekend premium pay for Saturday and Sunday shifts
If required to work a holiday or observed holiday designated by the Governor
Promotions
After 5 years of service, Troopers are eligible for promotion to Technical Trooper or Master Trooper and receive an accompanying salary increase. Technical Troopers must meet certain qualifications and receive additional training in specialized areas.
Additional years of service and experience can lead to additional promotional opportunities:

Captain
Major
Lieutenant Colonel (Assistant Superintendent)
Colonel (Superintendent)
Governor appointed
Retirement
