DEMOGRAPHICS: El Dorado Springs is the largest city in Cedar County and has a population of approximately 3,500 residents. We are a rural community located on US 54 Highway in Southwest Missouri within close proximity to Stockton, Truman, and Pomme de Terre Lakes offering excellent outdoor recreation opportunities but are still within one and one-half hours to the metropolitan areas of Kansas City, Springfield, and Joplin. Reasonably priced housing accommodations are available with lower than average tax rates. The police department is authorized seven (7) commissioned officers and four (4) full-time communications officers. We are looking for energetic, career-oriented persons to join the finest law enforcement team within the state and desiring to make a positive impact on the quality of living within our city. QUALIFICATIONS AND TESTING: Applicants must be a United States citizen, twenty-one years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Missouri driver's license, a valid P.O.S.T. license or the ability to obtain license, and no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. Applicants should possess and exhibit character, honesty, reliability, and integrity. Applicants currently attending a Police Academy and military veterans who are beginning a Police Academy are encouraged to apply. Testing may include written and spelling examinations, oral interview, physical agility, psychological and health examinations, and drug screening. SALARY AND BENEFITS: We pay $17.68 per hour after completing a probationary period.
