 Job Description Summary 
Under direct supervision of chain of command, this position is responsible for the performance of professional police work in preserving and protecting public peace and safety, protecting life and preventing crime through proper enforcement of the law.

 We are offering up to $40,000 in hiring bonuses . These include bonuses for Lateral Officers, Veterans, a relocation bonus, and an employee referral bonus. *All are subject to requirements and at the discretion of the hiring agency* Bonus Information MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED, minimum age of 21, character above reproach, and be a U.S. citizen (at time of filing). Ability to obtain a Nevada P.O.S.T. Police Officer Certification (within established state time frame). Must possess a valid and current state driver's license at time of application. Must possess a valid and current NV state driver's license at time of hire and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record for duration of employment.  Additional Job Description 
 WORK SCHEDULE: Various shifts may be required. 24/7 operations. Emergency call-outs may be required. Position will be required to complete a formal training period that may include various shifts. APPLICATION/RESUME SCREENING The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume. The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. 3. PRE EMPLOYMENT SCREENING Background Screening/Investigation includes an extensive background check, polygraph/CVSA examination, and medical/drug screening. All top-scoring candidates must pass the Background Investigation in order to move forward in the process. Applicants who proceed in the selection process will be required to complete an extensive police background investigation. The following are disqualifying behaviors: Any felony conviction. Any domestic violence conviction. Gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Although there have been recent changes to laws regarding the legal possession and consumption of marijuana, the City of North Las Vegas will continue to adhere to its professional standards and guidelines as they relate to recent and continuous use of the drug. Appearance policy for the police department does not allow tattoos above the collarbone (face, neck, behind ears, etc.) or below the wrist. The exception is a simple wedding band tattoo. If you have any of these prohibited tattoos you are not eligible but can apply after they are removed. 5.
